Cell division over time

Before division, cells grow and replicate DNA. During mitosis, duplicated chromosomes separate into daughter nuclei; cytokinesis divides the cytoplasm. A population count reflects multiple processes, including proliferation, cell loss and counting variation. The HL-60 dataset records counts every 24 hours; it cannot identify the division time of any individual cell.

Replay the six published HL-60 well B4 measurements over 120 hours. Compare the first and last counts. Ask what additional controls would be required to infer differentiation or viability.
